The Eurocargo is Iveco's mid-weight truck between 6 and 18 tonnes gross vehicle weight, which replaced the older ranges from the Fiat, OM and Magirus heritage in 1991, the brands from which Iveco was formed in 1975. It is built at the Brescia plant in northern Italy. Iveco's truck type code follows a fixed pattern: the first one to three digits give the weight class in tenths of a tonne of gross vehicle weight, E stands for the Euro emission standard, and the last two digits give the power in tens of hp – a 120E18 is thus a twelve-tonner with about 180 hp, a 75E17 a 7.5-tonner with 170 hp. Suffixes such as K for tipper, P and FP for platform and S-A for automated transmission mark the body and gearbox type. The Eurocargo is powered by Iveco's own four-cylinder Tector engines in the lighter and Cursor-derived six-cylinders in the heavier versions.

In Europe the Eurocargo occupies the gap between light vans and heavy long-haul trucks and competes there chiefly with the Mercedes-Benz Atego, the MAN TGL/TGM and the DAF LF. It is common as a tipper, flatbed, box-body truck and as a chassis for fire-brigade and municipal bodies, and is regarded as a robust distribution truck for urban and regional use.
On used examples, the condition of the injection pump and turbocharger on the Tector engines, corrosion on the frame and cab mounts on older model years, clutch actuation on automated (S-A) gearboxes, and the brake system including ABS/EBS all count; spare parts run through Iveco's dense dealer network.
