International Farmall 50-series – the 350 and 450: four-cylinder engine in petrol, LPG or diesel form, 28.7 to 38.2 kW, 2,875 to 4,599 cm³
The 50-series of Farmall, the tractor brand of International Harvester with plants in Chicago and Rock Island, covered the 350 and 450 types – medium-sized all-purpose tractors above the 30 class. Both models were available with a choice of petrol, LPG or diesel engine, a fuel diversity within a single range that was typical of International Harvester. The name Farmall referred to the aim of offering a tractor for every task on the farm, from ploughing to driving stationary machinery via the belt pulley.

The register lists here 2 versions with 28.7 to 38.2 kW from four-cylinder engines of 2,875 to 4,599 cm³ displacement, with unladen weights from 2,418 to 2,540 kg, lengths from 3,454 to 3,632 mm, widths from 2,108 to 2,134 mm and heights from 1,965 to 2,032 mm.
The 50-series was among the best-selling Farmall ranges of the 1950s in North America and targeted medium-sized arable farms, for which the choice between petrol, LPG and diesel engines mattered depending on local fuel availability and running costs. In Europe, such tractors were sold alongside comparable offerings from competing makers in the same power class.
When buying used, check the fuel type of the given engine and its condition, rust on body panels, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, and the tightness of the hydraulics and PTO. Spares come through dealers specialising in Farmall.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
