The water-cooled six-cylinder diesel engine, type TS46T, is turbocharged and produces 110 hp (82 kW) at 2,250 rpm. At this output, the machine ranks among the more powerful standard tractors of its time, designed for drawbar work with high power demand.
Turbocharging allowed higher output from the same displacement than a naturally aspirated engine, but in return required clean engine oil and an intact charge-air path to avoid damaging the turbocharger. Tractors of this power class fall under driving licence category T and use a standardised power take-off running at 540 or 1,000 rpm.
When buying a turbocharged IMR tractor, the condition of the turbocharger itself is particularly important — play in the bearing or blue smoke on a cold start point to wear. Spare parts availability for a manufacturer rarely encountered today, as well as the condition of the clutch and hydraulic pump, should also be checked. The condition of the coolant hoses and the charge-air pipework should also be checked, as leaks there quickly reduce power. A full service history helps judge how the machine was maintained over its working life.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
