The compression ratio is 16:1. Around 14 units were built. The T-Reihe series covers 6 models. Rated output within it ranges from 52 to 140 hp; the T-14000 Hydrostat (A) sits at the top of that range with 140 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the T-9200 (A) below it with 92 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 2,270 to 4,300 kg; here the T-14000 Hydrostat (A) sits at the top of that range with 4,300 kg. 88 Hürlimann models across 6 series are on record.

Hürlimann T series – Swiss tractors from Wil (SDF Group): T-5100 to T-14000 Hydrostat, four- and six-cylinder diesels rated 38–103 kW, four-wheel-drive version (A)

The T series was the tractor programme of the Swiss maker Hürlimann of Wil in the canton of St Gallen, which was taken over by the Italian SAME group in 1979 and today belongs to the SDF Group. The T designation marks the tractor series, the four-digit number the power class, and the A suffix the four-wheel-drive version; the T-14000 Hydrostat added a variant with hydrostatic drive to the line, and the T-6200 Turbo one with a turbocharged engine.

The register lists 6 versions rated at 38.2 to 102.9 kW from four- and six-cylinder diesel engines of 2,948 to 5,675 cm³, kerb weights of 2,270 to 4,300 kg, and a length of 3,400 to 4,430 mm, a width of 1,750 to 2,250 mm and a height of 1,620 to 1,950 mm, at speeds of 2,100 to 2,400 rpm.

Hürlimann tractors were mainly found in Switzerland and the Alpine countries, where four-wheel drive and rugged construction were needed for work in hilly and mountainous terrain; after integration into the SAME and later SDF Group, engineering and components were increasingly shared with Same and Lamborghini.

On these tractors, check engine and injection condition, the clutch and gearbox; on the A models, also the transfer case and driveshafts of the four-wheel drive, and on the Hydrostat version the condition of the hydrostatic pump and drive motor; also check the hydraulics, brakes and corrosion on the cab and frame. Spares run through the SDF dealer network.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
