Hürlimann XE series Tradition: compact three-cylinder tractors from Wil, XE 55 and XE 70 TRADITION, 38 to 49 kW, under the SAME Deutz-Fahr group
The XE series rounds out Hürlimann's range under the SAME Deutz-Fahr group (SDF) in the compact power segment. The XE 55 and XE 70 TRADITION carry three-cylinder engines and the Tradition suffix, marking a more simply equipped base version within the series. Within Hürlimann's range, the XE series thus formed the counterpart to the more comfortably equipped model lines with richer standard equipment.

The register lists 2 versions here with 38.2 to 49.3 kW from three-cylinder engines of 3,000 cm³, torque of 205 to 260 Nm at a rated speed of 2,200 rpm, and unladen weights of 2,180 to 2,350 kg, with lengths of 3,085 to 3,270 mm, widths of 1,640 to 1,780 mm and heights of 2,245 to 2,300 mm.
As compact three-cylinder tractors, the XE series targeted smaller and medium-sized farms for which a simply equipped, robust base version was sufficient, rounding out the more richly equipped models in Hürlimann's range at the lower end. Its lower weight and compact dimensions also made it attractive to farms with tight yard conditions.
When buying one of these three-cylinder tractors, attention should go to the condition of the engine and injection system, the tightness of the hydraulics, rust on the fenders and cab floor, and the condition of the clutch and transmission, as well as the tightness of the cab mounts and the function of the pto; spare parts are available through the SDF dealer network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
