The Hoyer HMA2 80 2-2 is a three-phase induction motor from the HMA2 series. The rated output is 1.1 kW. The motor is two-pole, which at 50 Hz gives a synchronous speed of 3,000 rpm. The rated voltage is 400 V. The housing is frame size 80 M in foot-mounted form. The efficiency is 82.9 per cent at full load, 84.2 per cent at 75 per cent load and 83.4 per cent at half load. The motor is built in China. The figures come from the Australian MEPS register under the GEMS Determination 2019; measured to IEC 60034-2-1 (Edition 2.0). The HMA2 series covers 20 models. Rated output within it ranges from 0.75 to 9.2 kW; the HMA2 80 2-2 sits at the bottom of that range with 1.1 kW. Its immediate neighbours are the HMA2 80 2-4 below it with 0.75 kW and the HMA2 100L-6 above it with 1.5 kW. 97 Hoyer models across 5 series are on record.

Hoyer HMA2 – the range of three-phase motors with multiple protection ratings up to IP66, frame sizes 80 to 132, 0.75 to 9.2 kW, 2- to 6-pole

Hoyer Motors is a Danish maker of three-phase motors that has its ranges built in China. The HMA2 range covers the small IEC frame sizes; type designations follow the scheme of frame size, build length and pole count, such as HMA2 100L-2 for frame size 100, length L, two-pole. As with Hoyer's larger ranges, each motor is certified simultaneously for several protection ratings, from IP23 through IP44, IP55, IP56, IP57 and IP65 to IP66.

The register lists here 20 versions with 0.75 to 9.2 kW, two- to six-pole, full-load efficiencies from 78.02 to 89.46% and at 75% load from 78.3 to 90.35%. Frame sizes run from 80 to 132, supply voltage is uniformly 400 V. Manufacturing is in China, testing used test method 2-1-1B under the 2019 GEMS determination. The mounting form spans, on 19 of 20 motors, the full range from B3 to the vertical forms V18 and V19.

With frame sizes up to 132, the HMA2 range covers the lower power segment of industrial drives, such as small pumps, fans and conveyors, at broad protection-rating approval for different operating environments and an equally broad choice of mounting forms.

When buying used, bearing condition and a checked insulation resistance of the winding, the condition of shaft, key and fan cover, and a legible nameplate with frame size, pole count and mounting code matter; given the wide choice of mounting codes up to the vertical forms, the actual installation should be matched against the approved form. Spares run through Hoyer's distribution.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the Hoyer HMA2 80 2-2 have?

The Hoyer HMA2 80 2-2 delivers 1.1 kW.

What to check before buying

  • Match the data plate against the order: frame size, mounting and rating have to agree.
  • Check the ingress rating against the installation site — outdoors or in dust the demands differ.
  • Hold the mounting form and dimensions against the existing seat before ordering.
  • The pole count sets the speed — when replacing an older unit, compare this first.
  • For used units, ask about winding condition and bearing play.
  • Ask about parts availability for this series — the running costs hang on it.
