HMT – further models: the collective page for tractors from Pinjore, India, with export types Trantor 65 to Trantor 110 and the 2500 to 7500 series, Zetor-licensed design with 13 to 56 kW
This page brings together the HMT tractors that the register could not assign to a named series – from the numerous three- and four-digit types such as 2511, 3522, 4511 and 6522, to the models exported under the Trantor name: Trantor 65, 75, 90 and 110. HMT (Hindustan Machine Tools) built its tractors at the Pinjore plant in India based on a licensed Zetor design from Czechoslovakia; the Trantor range was the export version of these series for the British and international markets.

The register lists 29 versions here, with outputs from 13 to 56 kW, or 18 to 75 hp, mostly with four-cylinder HMT diesel engines and rated speeds around 2,200 rpm.
For decades HMT was one of the large Indian tractor manufacturers, and with this broad range of types, from light two-axle tractors to mid-size farm tractors, it covered practically the entire spectrum of Indian agriculture; through the Trantor exports, tractors based on Zetor technology also reached European markets, where they appeared as an affordable alternative to Western European brands.
For a used HMT, the condition and compression of the diesel engine, the tightness of the cooling system and hydraulics, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, and wear on the axles and tyres are the key checks; since the design derives from Zetor, many wear parts fit from the Zetor spare parts range. On the export Trantor models, the condition of the electrics adapted for the European market is also worth checking.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
