Heinrich Lanz HN 2 – Bulldog tractors from Mannheim, D 7500 to D 7521, horizontal single-cylinder displacing 4.8 litres, 14.6 kW at 760 rpm on multi-fuel operation
Heinrich Lanz built the HN 2 Series at its Mannheim plant; the four models D 7500, D 7506, D 7511 and D 7521 carry the same horizontal single-cylinder engine displacing 4,767 cc and rated at 14.6 kW. As with the classic Lanz Bulldog, the engine ran on multiple fuels. In 1956, John Deere took over the Mannheim works, which continue to this day as a John Deere plant. The HN 2 Series was among the smaller Bulldog series in Lanz's post-war line-up.

The register lists here 4 versions with 14.6 kW rated output from the 4,767 cc single-cylinder at a rated speed of 760 rpm. Unladen weights range from 2,100 to 3,240 kg, length, width and height from 2,735 to 2,935 mm, 1,524 to 1,700 mm and 1,785 to 2,025 mm.
The Lanz Bulldog, with its distinctive slow-running single-cylinder, shaped the image of German agriculture for decades; the HN 2 Series, with its lower weight, was among the lighter versions for mid-sized farms. Parts and technical knowledge for the Bulldog models are still maintained today by an active collector and club scene.
When buying these Bulldog models used, check the condition of the single-cylinder and its ignition system, the tightness of the cooling and fuel systems, the clutch and gearbox, and rust on the frame and bodywork; parts are supplied by specialist Bulldog dealers.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
