Heinrich Lanz Alldog A 1315: air-cooled single-cylinder compact diesel tractor, 533 cc, 13 hp/9.5 kW and 1,060 kg weight, from 1956/1957
The Alldog was a small, versatile series from Heinrich Lanz of Mannheim from the second half of the 1950s, standing alongside the manufacturer's large single-cylinder Bulldog field tractors as a compact all-purpose tractor for smaller farms and mixed tasks.

The A 1315 is powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder diesel engine of 533 cc, producing 13 hp, or 9.5 kW, at 2,800 rpm. At a weight of 1,060 kg, a length of 3,760 mm, a height of 1,665 mm and a width of 1,630 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,234 mm, the machine is a very light small tractor whose top speed of 19.7 km/h even allowed for short road journeys.
An air-cooled single-cylinder with a comparatively high rated speed of 2,800 rpm makes the engine largely immune to frost and does away with a radiator, coolant and water pump as possible sources of wear, though it offers less cooling reserve under sustained full load than a water-cooled unit. Such a light tractor was built for light field work, driving small mounted implements and yard haulage, not for heavy tillage.
When buying an Alldog A 1315, the condition of the cooling fins on the cylinder and of the cooling fan matters, since dirt there leads directly to overheating. Also worth checking are the clutch and gearbox for wear noises and the brakes; parts for such a small and rare Lanz model are now only available from specialist suppliers and salvage stock.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
