GS Meppel AIL-3600 – tipping semi-trailer range from the Dutch manufacturer: three-axle with 36,000 kg gross weight, 9,360 to 10,760 kg unladen weight, 10.4 to 10.9 m length
This page gathers the AIL-3600 range from the Dutch tipping semi-trailer manufacturer GS Meppel, the fixed three-axle version with a 36-tonne gross weight. The suffixes N, SBW, SDBW, SNW, UDB and ZWANENHALS distinguish side-board height, steering and the Zwanenhals gooseneck frame that lowers the loading floor. As class O4 trailers they run air brakes with ABS or EBS and are subject to recurring roadworthiness testing; the semi-trailer tractor requires a category CE licence.

The register lists here 8 versions with unladen weights from 9,360 to 10,760 kg, a uniform gross weight of 36,000 kg, lengths from 10,440 to 10,940 mm and a uniform width of 2,550 mm.
As a fixed three-axle range at 36 tonnes, the AIL-3600 is the standard size for Dutch tipper transport of excavated earth, recycling material and building bulk goods, where the maximum legally permitted axle load is used across three axles.
On a used tipper, the condition of the tipping body, side boards and tailgate, wear on the hydraulic ram and its mounting, corrosion of the body and frame, the braking system and air suspension, and on the Zwanenhals versions the condition of the lowered front frame all count; parts run through GS Meppel and the usual trailer suppliers. The 2-inch kingpin is the common standard for the fifth-wheel coupling on this range; the fixed tridem axle group spreads the 36 tonnes more evenly across three axles than a tandem axle would.

What to check before buying
- Search the frame and welds at the axle mounts — that is where cracks start.
- Check the brakes and the last inspection in the papers.
- Work the gross weight against the towing vehicle before buying.
- Compare the chassis number with the papers.
- Look at the floor, cover or body from the inside — rust does not show from outside.
