Grove is a crane name today, but from the 1970s to the early 2000s Grove Manlift in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, also built aerial work platforms – a division Manitowoc gave up after taking over Grove in 2002, which is why the lifts in the register are the last generation of that line. The type logic: A stands for Articulating, the articulated telescopic lift, T for Telescopic, the straight boom with direct reach, AMZ for the articulating lifts in Z layout with double parallelogram; the number gives the platform height in feet – A45J about 45 ft, T60 60 ft, T110 110 ft, A125J 125 ft, i.e. a good 38 m – J marks the jib, E and NE electric drive and the narrow electric layout, 2WD and 4WD or AWD the drive, XT an upgrade level.

The Grove lifts were the third force of the American market alongside JLG and Genie; their design did not live on after 2002, but the machines still run in rental fleets today because hydraulics and steelwork were built to crane standards.
On used lifts, operating hours, play in boom and slew-ring bearings, the condition of cylinders and hoses, the function of tilt and load sensors, parts supply, which now runs only through specialists and engine makers, and a valid periodic inspection are what count.
