The GMC Sierra has been GMC's standalone pickup range within General Motors since 1999, closely related in use to the Chevrolet Silverado, built at, among other plants, Fort Wayne (Indiana), Flint (Michigan) and Silao (Mexico); earlier generations already carried the Sierra name on the GMC C/K chassis from the 1980s.
