The register lists 22 versions from six- to eight-cylinders of 2,836 to 6,601 cm³, unladen weights from 1,360 to 2,890 kg, gross weights from 2,195 to 3,500 kg and widths from 1,650 to 2,420 mm.

GMC pickups and vans are a fixture of trades and commercial transport in North America; the Midas motorhomes on the same chassis spread mainly in the US as an affordable alternative to the big Class A motorhomes.

Unlike the mostly front-wheel-drive, unitary-body vans typical of Europe, GMC pickups and vans sit on a classic ladder-frame chassis with rear-wheel drive, allowing high axle and towing loads but leaving the frame's cross-members prone to rust. As petrol engines from the US market, the six- and eight-cylinder units are not subject to European emissions stages with particulate filters or AdBlue; instead, the condition of the carburettor or early fuel injection and of the ignition system matter.

On the GMC models, rust on the load bed and sills, the condition of the automatic transmission and axles count; on the Midas motorhomes, additionally moisture in the body, the condition of roof and windows and the habitation systems; parts for the chassis run through the GMC network, for the habitation body through specialist motorhome workshops.
