Genie GTH telehandlers – two naming worlds: GTH-636 to GTH-1544 by pounds and feet, GTH-2506 to GTH-6025 by tonnes and metres
Genie, part of Terex since 2002 and known above all as a maker of aerial work platforms, runs the group's telehandlers under the code GTH (Genie Telehandler). The programme has two roots, visible in the type designations: the North American models GTH-636, GTH-644, GTH-842, GTH-844, GTH-1056, GTH-1256 and GTH-1544 follow the US convention – the first digits give the capacity in thousands of pounds, the last the lift height in feet, so the GTH-1056 lifts 10,000 lb to 56 ft. The European models from the Umbertide plant in Umbria, which Terex gained with the takeover of Terexlift, follow the metric pattern: GTH-2506 lifts 2.5 t to 6 m, GTH-3007 3 t to 7 m, GTH-4017 4 t to 17 m, GTH-5021 5 t to 21 m and GTH-6025 6 t to 25 m. The suffixes SX, EX and ER mark equipment and control variants, R the rotating version with a slewing upper structure.
