The Futo Y Series is a three-phase induction motor. The rated output is 1.1 kW. The motor is two-pole, which at 50 Hz gives a synchronous speed of 3,000 rpm. The housing is frame size 800 in foot-mounted form. The protection class is IP55. The efficiency is 77 per cent at full load, 77 per cent at 75 per cent load and 77 per cent at half load. Mounting arrangements to IEC 60034-7: B3, B35 and B34. The motor is built in China. The data is based on the Australian MEPS registration under standard AS/NZS 1359.5:2004; measured to IEC 60034-2-1 (Edition 2.0). Rated output within this group ranges from 0.18 to 1,119 kW; the Y Series sits at the bottom of that range with 1.1 kW. Its immediate neighbours are the IE3-W41R90SY4 BAH H FDS-K SW FLAT below it with 1 kW and the CWC3888B above it with 1.2 kW.

Futo Y Series – a three-phase induction motor rated at 1.1 kilowatts from the widely used Chinese standard range, fitted to pumps and fans

The Y-series designation in Chinese motor manufacturing refers to a widely used family of standardised three-phase induction motors for general industrial use. The motor from Futo described here belongs to this standard range, built in large numbers for pumps, fans and simple drive tasks.

With a rated output of 1.1 kilowatts, the motor is among the smaller versions of the Y-series, sufficient for small pumps, fans or stirrers. Motors in this series are designed for straightforward maintenance and wide availability of spare parts, making them a common choice for standard applications.

Under IEC 60072 the frame size sets the shaft centre height and therefore the foot and flange dimensions, so that motors of the same frame size from different makers stay mechanically interchangeable. The squirrel-cage rotor is standard in industrial motors of this kind, while slip-ring rotors are reserved for high starting torque. Protection ratings follow IEC 60529, mounting arrangements IEC 60034-7, for example IM B3, IM B5 or a vertical V1 version. Running it from a frequency inverter raises the demands on winding insulation.

Before buying, check the rating plate and whether voltage and frequency match the intended supply. Turned by hand, the shaft should run freely and quietly; rattling or catching points to worn bearings. The terminal box and cabling deserve a look for corrosion or cracked insulation, which an insulation test clarifies. For inverter duty the winding must be rated accordingly, otherwise premature insulation failure can follow.

Frequently asked questions

How much power does the Futo Y Series have?

The Futo Y Series delivers 1.1 kW.

What to check before buying

  • Match the data plate against the order: frame size, mounting and rating have to agree.
  • Check the ingress rating against the installation site — outdoors or in dust the demands differ.
  • Hold the mounting form and dimensions against the existing seat before ordering.
  • The pole count sets the speed — when replacing an older unit, compare this first.
  • For used units, ask about winding condition and bearing play.
  • Ask about parts availability for this series — the running costs hang on it.
