The ZT series was built at the VEB Traktorenwerk Schönebeck plant in East Germany and formed the backbone of East German large-tractor production for decades. The fourteen designations recorded here, from ZT 300 through ZT 303 C, ZT 307, ZT 310, ZT 313, ZT 315, ZT 320 GB, ZT 323, ZT 323-A and ZT 325 up to ZT 403 and ZT 423, show the gradual development of the series across several model generations; suffixes such as GB or ZMF denoted different equipment or export variants.

The register lists for the four models with complete specifications power of 67 to 90 kW (90 to 120 hp) from the 6,560 cc four-cylinder diesel engine. Unladen weights lie between 4,820 and 5,690 kg, lengths between 4,690 and 4,940 mm, and widths between 2,020 and 2,240 mm; overall height stands at around 2,855 mm, rated speed at around 1,900 rpm.
ZT tractors were widely used in East Germany and across the Comecon bloc, employed beyond agriculture also in industrial combines for transport and heavy-duty tasks; production at Schönebeck ended after German reunification in 1990, though many machines remained in use for decades across eastern Germany and Eastern Europe.
On a used purchase of a ZT tractor, check the condition of the clutch and mechanical gearbox, the tightness of the injection pump, and corrosion on the frame and wings; parts for this East German design are now only available through specialist dealers and tractor exchanges in eastern Germany and Eastern Europe.
