Ford Fiesta Van – the factory panel van of the Fiesta supermini: petrol and diesel engines from 1,118 to 1,753 cm³, unladen weights from 710 to 873 kg, gross weights up to 1,250 kg

The Ford Fiesta Van is the factory panel-van version of the Fiesta supermini, which Ford built at its Cologne plant and, in later generations, also at Almussafes in Spain. On the Van, the rear side windows gave way to closed panels and the rear bench seat to a flat load floor; across several generations the Fiesta Van remained technically closely related to the passenger car.

The register lists here 6 versions with up to 50 kW from four-cylinder engines of 1,118 to 1,753 cm³, unladen weights from 710 to 873 kg, gross weights from 1,135 to 1,250 kg and widths from 1,570 to 1,610 mm.

As the smallest van in Ford's range, the Fiesta Van served above all inner-city courier work, trades and small businesses for which a Transit- or Courier-class van was too big; it benefited from the tax and insurance advantages of commercial registration. Across many European countries in the 1980s and 1990s, it became a familiar sight in postal and trades fleets, valued for its low running costs and its ability to fit into narrow city streets and loading bays.

On a used example, rust on the sills, wheel arches and load floor, the condition of the clutch and gearbox on diesel versions, wear on the dampers from frequent loading, and the sealing of the blanked side windows count; spare parts run through the regular Ford network.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
