This page gathers versions of the Ford F-250, the heavier-duty step within the American F-Series. Since the 1990s the F-250 has been marketed together with the F-350 and F-450 under the Super Duty name and is used in the US for towing, construction-site work and as a tow vehicle for recreational trailers. The model list shows the range of body variants from the two-door standard cab through the extended Supercab to the four-door Crew Cab, together with trim lines such as XLT and Lariat and the rugged Custom specification.

The register lists 36 versions here, exclusively with V8 engines of 3,600 to 7,600 cm³, kerb weights of 1,909 to 3,200 kg, gross vehicle weights of 2,970 to 3,500 kg, lengths of 5,370 to 6,070 mm and widths of 1,970 to 2,400 mm.

In the US the F-250 competes with the Chevrolet/GMC 2500 and the Dodge/Ram 2500 in the segment of heavy pickups for towing and construction work, and is rarer outside North America but sought after as an imported and collector's vehicle. The V8 engines range from carburettor and early fuel-injected versions to the Power Stroke diesel, which made the F-250 suitable for sustained heavy-duty work.

On imported examples it is worth checking the frame for corrosion, especially at the spring mounts and around the tow hitch, and the condition of the load bed. On the diesel engines, the injection pump, turbocharger and cylinder head gaskets are known wear points, while the petrol V8s should be checked for carburettor or early injection condition and the ignition system. Spare parts are readily obtainable through American import trade and specialist pickup workshops in Europe.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.

  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
