Fliegl was founded in 1979 by Konrad Fliegl in Mühldorf am Inn and grew from an agricultural-machinery workshop into one of Europe's largest manufacturers of commercial and agricultural trailers. The model names of the VTS range combine the code VTS with a number such as 300, 360 or 400, with two versions supplemented by further number groups joined by a slash or plus sign, as in VTS 400/128/563/128 and VTS 400/131+570+131; alongside these stand the variant VT-S 400 with a hyphen and the base form VTS without a number.
