Fiatagri 86 series – the last Fiat tractors before blue New Holland: 50-86 to 82-86, the first number as hp class, 86 as series, F for the orchard version, DT for four-wheel drive
The 86 series stands at the end of Fiat tractor history: Fiatagri, since 1984 the farm-machinery brand of the Turin group, introduced it at the end of the 1980s as successor to the 66 series, and with the purchase of Ford New Holland in 1991 and the brand change to New Holland in the 1990s the 86s became the last tractors with the Fiat name and terracotta bonnet. The type logic is the Fiat convention: the first number gives the hp class – 50-86 about 50 hp, 60-86 60 hp, 82-86 about 80 hp – 86 the series, F the orchard and vineyard version (frutteto) with narrow track and low bonnet, DT four-wheel drive (doppia trazione). The engines are Fiat's 8000 series from the Turin plant: the three-cylinder 8035 of 2.7 litres in the small, the four-cylinder 8045 of 3.9 litres in the big models, the same ones New Holland continued afterwards as the 8000 series.

The register lists 9 versions with 33.1 to 58.8 kW from three- and four-cylinders of 2,710 to 3,908 cm³ at 2,500 rpm rated speed, unladen weights from 1,862 to 1,987 kg, lengths from 3,275 to 3,390 mm, a width of 1,540 mm and heights from 1,977 to 2,029 mm.
In Italy, Spain, Greece and Turkey the 86s are still the tractors of small farms today: simple, with mechanical injection pump and no electronics – the base from which the TN and TL ranges later emerged.
On used tractors, operating hours, clutch, the condition of the shuttle and of the four-wheel-drive front axle on DT models, hydraulic tightness and parts supply, unproblematic through New Holland for the 8000 series, are what count.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
