Fiat Multipla as a van-register entry: six-seat MPV with a JTD common-rail diesel and a Bi Power petrol engine, 77 to 86.5 kW, panel-van version, gross weight up to 2,050 kg
The Multipla is Fiat's MPV with its distinctive twin-tier body and unusual 3+3 seating layout, built from 1998 to 2010. JTD denotes Fiat's common-rail diesel technology introduced in 1997, one of the first of its kind in the volume segment; “Bi Power” denotes a bi-fuel petrol/LPG version. Alongside the passenger version there was a panel-van version registered with the rear side windows blanked out for load carrying.

The register lists 6 versions with 77 to 86.5 kW from four-cylinders of 1,596 to 1,910 cm³, unladen weights from 1,239 to 1,409 kg and gross weights from 1,809 to 2,050 kg. Length runs from 3,990 to 4,039 mm, width is a constant 1,870 mm.
With its unconventional design the Multipla remained a niche model, but scored with an unusually large interior on a short body; the panel-van version used that space for trades and small delivery services.
On a used JTD example, the condition of the injectors and high-pressure pump matters, along with the timing belt, whose change interval must be kept as the engine is an interference design. Central locking and electric windows are known to be fault-prone, and rust mainly affects the sills. Parts run through the regular Fiat network, though model-specific interior trim is scarcer. Given the Multipla's relatively low production numbers compared with mainstream vans, sourcing body-specific trim can take longer than for the JTD engine's regular wear parts.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
