Its immediate neighbours are the Favorit 611 LSA below it with 125 hp and the Favorit 615 LSA above it with 180 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 3,855 to 9,575 kg; here the Favorit 614 LSA sits in the middle of that range with 6,360 kg. 1545 Fendt models across 89 series are on record.

Fendt Favorit 600 (1976–1993) – the Marktoberdorf large tractors before the Vario: 610 to 615 with MWM five- and six-cylinders, 620 and 622 LS with MAN engines up to 11.4 litres, LS, LSA, Turbomatik, 62 to 155 kW

The Favorit 600 was Fendt's large-tractor range of 1976 to 1993 – the class above the Farmer 300 and the forerunner of the Favorit 800 and 900 Vario. The type logic follows the pattern of the time: the number orders the power step in ascending order – 610 about 85 hp, 612 about 105 hp, 615 about 150 hp, 622 over 200 hp – the letters the equipment: S for the standard version with Turbomatik converter clutch, SA for the same with four-wheel drive, LS for the version with powershift transmission, LSA for powershift with four-wheel drive. The 610 to 615 carry MWM five- and six-cylinders of 5.1 to 6.2 litres from the group tie-up with KHD, the 620 LS and 622 LS by contrast MAN six-cylinders of up to 11.4 litres – the heaviest Fendts of their time, built for contractors and large farms in the north and east.

The register lists 10 versions with 62.2 to 155 kW (85 to 211 hp), 5,100 to 11,400 cm³ with five or six cylinders, torque from 362 to 828 Nm at 2,400 rpm, unladen weights from 3,855 to 9,575 kg, lengths from 4,382 to 5,700 mm, widths from 2,100 to 2,470 mm and heights from 2,540 to 3,080 mm – all diesel.

The Favorit 600 LSA are regarded as the tractors with which Fendt cemented its premium reputation in the 1980s: Turbomatik, powershift, comfort cab and four-wheel drive in a class where the competition still offered manual gearboxes.

Used Favorit 600s are sought-after classics with stable prices; when buying, engine condition (MWM sixes are regarded as durable), Turbomatik and powershift, front axle on four-wheel-drive models and the cab, whose sheet metal rusts, are what count.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
