The Farmer 200 range was not built for open fields but for the row: narrow-track tractors for viticulture, orchards and plantations. Fendt began in 1974 with a concept still carried on today — narrow enough to work between vine rows, yet fully equipped.

The letters after the number say what the tractor was built for. V stands for viticulture: particularly narrow and low. P stands for plantations — the most striking example is the 203 P, which stands just 1,340 mm tall, lower than many a small car. A trailing A means four-wheel drive. When comparing offers it is therefore worth reading the letter first, not the number.
The range spans two generations. Farmer 200 and 203 ran from 1974 to 1982 with air-cooled three-cylinder engines of 38 and 50 hp respectively. The later 260 and 270 arrived in 1988 and ran until 2001 and 2002, with 60 and 70 hp from the same basic concept.
Production figures are modest and explain today's used market: 1,048 Farmer 200s were built with rear-wheel drive and 975 with all-wheel drive, then 948 and 1,689 of the 203, around 1,345 of the 260 and roughly 2,475 of the 270. These are runs of a few thousand machines — well-kept examples hold their value accordingly.
