Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 – the fifth generation of the large series: 826 to 832 Vario with six-cylinder up to 8,000 cm³, 213 to 252 kW, HVO-capable, 1,700 rpm rated speed
The Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 is the fifth iteration of the large Vario series from Marktoberdorf, positioned between the mid-range 700 series and the flagship 900/1000 series. The 826 to 832 Vario models are powered by six-cylinder engines of 7,926 to 8,000 cm³, which besides diesel can also run on HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) – reflecting the maker's more recent emissions and fuel strategy. The stepless Vario transmission, the maker's hallmark since 1995, remains the namesake of the entire model range; the Gen5 iteration bundles the latest update to the engine, cab and operating electronics.

The register lists here 4 versions with 213 to 252 kW, an output of around 343 hp, unladen weights of 9,900 kg, gross weights from 16,000 to 17,500 kg, a length of 5,650 mm, a width of 2,751 mm, a height of 3,330 mm and a rated speed of 1,700 rpm.
The 800 series targets large arable farms with heavy tillage, implements demanding high draft power, and transport work with large trailers, competing there against the John Deere 7 and 8 series and Case IH Magnum models; HVO capability additionally opens up farms committed to renewable diesel alternatives.
On a used buy, what counts is the condition of the Vario transmission unit and its oil cooling, the tightness of the exhaust aftertreatment and AdBlue system, the function of the terminals and ISOBUS interface, and the operating-hours count and service record through the Fendt dealer; spare parts run through the AGCO dealer network.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
