The 700 Vario range forms Fendt's mid-range between the compact 300s and the large 900s; the 7.1 generation is a revision of the seventh generation, sharpened chiefly in cab, driver-assistance and exhaust after-treatment over the original version 7. On the 720 to 728 Vario models the number orders the power class in ascending order, all carrying the same six-cylinder of 7,527 cm³, whose output is stepped electronically by model – a principle by which Fendt covers several power classes from one engine size instead of fitting a separate engine for each step.
