Esve TA – Dutch special-trailer builder since 1920: 32 versions of the TA range, unladen weight from 2,880 to 47,200 kg, gross weight up to 54,000 kg

Esve traces back to Schrör & Vriend, founded in 1920 in Winterswijk, and ranks among the first Dutch builders of trailers and semi-trailers; in the early 1960s the works moved to Lichtenvoorde, and in 1992 it was taken over by the Eeftink Rensing group. For more than a hundred years Esve has built semi-trailers, trailers and bodies, in recent years under the name Esve Special Trailers, with a focus on special transport up to 90 tonnes capacity. This collective page lists models from the TA range.

The register lists here 32 versions with unladen weights from 2,880 to 47,200 kg at a gross weight of 6,500 to 54,000 kg. Lengths range from 1,474 to 14,700 mm, and widths, where recorded, from 2,420 to 2,590 mm.

The huge spread from a few tonnes to 54 tonnes gross weight shows a focus on modular special-transport technology, where individual axle modules and long low-loader combinations are assembled according to the transport task; short lengths correspond to single chassis modules, long ones to complete low-loader trains. This lets Esve serve mainly heavy transport of industrial and construction machinery.

When buying a used special-transport trailer of this kind, check the operation of the steering axles and hydraulic controls, the condition of the frame and module connections, the braking system, and the tightness of the hydraulic lines; on modular systems, also check the compatibility of individual modules. Esve offers spare parts and service directly, since this is mostly in-house-developed technology.

What to check before buying

  • Search the frame and welds at the axle mounts — that is where cracks start.
  • Check the brakes and the last inspection in the papers.
  • Work the gross weight against the towing vehicle before buying.
  • Compare the chassis number with the papers.
  • Look at the floor, cover or body from the inside — rust does not show from outside.
