The Nexus from Indemnis (USA) is a ballistic parachute launcher for the DJI Inspire 2, a multicopter of the medium class. It releases automatically when the aircraft is tilted abnormally or falling, and deploys the canopy through an inflating tube in about 30 ms.
The key values: ballistic release, autonomous detection without a pilot command, and the standard reference ASTM F3322-18. According to the manufacturer, validation to this standard was carried out by NUAIR on the Inspire 2. The deployment in about 30 ms is a manufacturer value for the process itself; how much height the canopy needs to reach full carrying capacity depends on the documents for the Inspire 2 and on the chosen loading.
ASTM F3322-18 is one of the standards by which parachute systems are substantiated for flights over people or in certain scenarios of the Specific category. Such evidence applies to the tested combination of system and aircraft, here the Inspire 2; on another aircraft it does not carry over automatically. Anyone operating an existing system needs the matching manufacturer documents, because packing instructions, maintenance intervals and release notes can only be substantiated there.
Ballistic releases eject the canopy with propulsion energy; transport and storage follow the manufacturer's instructions, because such systems can fall under their own rules. After a deployment, the ejection unit and tube are replaced or refitted as the manufacturer specifies, and canopy and lines are checked for tears and chafing. For the inflatable tube, tightness is a wear characteristic, and the tilt and fall detection belongs in the function check before use.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
