Dodge UP – the register's collective page for pick-up versions, mostly the four-wheel-drive W200, including the M880 military variant, eight-cylinder, around 1.6 to 2.5 tonnes unladen

This page gathers the versions the register carries under the UP abbreviation for pick-up. These are mostly the Dodge W200, the four-wheel-drive version of the D/W series with 3/4-ton payload; individual model names name the single cab (carried in Dutch registration data as enkele cabine) and the M880 military version, a 1970s US Army procurement built on the civilian W200.

The register lists here 6 versions from eight-cylinders of 5,217 cm³, unladen weights from 1,640 to 2,452 kg, a gross weight of 2,260 to 3,500 kg and widths from 1,810 to 2,100 mm.

The W series was Dodge's answer to the four-wheel-drive pickups from Ford and Chevrolet and, beyond the civilian market, also served as the base for agency and military vehicles; its simple leaf-sprung solid-axle engineering made it a rugged work and off-road vehicle. Thanks to their simple engineering, W200 chassis are still used today for motorhome and fire-service conversions.

On used examples, carburettor condition and oil consumption matter on the V8 engines, rust and bush wear on the solid axles and leaf springs, rust on the wheel arches and load bed on the body, and completeness of the special equipment on the military versions. On the single-cab version, the cab-floor seals and rust are also worth checking; parts run through the American youngtimer trade.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.

  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
