In the model designations, FA denotes the rigid chassis with day cab, FT the tractor unit; the number after the letters gives the approximate power class in hp.

Within DAF's range, the LF occupies the distribution-truck segment between vans and the heavy CF and XF ranges and is used above all in urban and regional delivery traffic, for instance by hauliers, beverage distributors and waste-disposal firms. On the LF base, DAF also builds chassis for municipal and fire-service bodies.
On used examples, the turbocharger and injection system matter on the diesel engines, the condition of the suspension and braking system on the chassis, rust at the entry steps and the floor on the cab, and the condition of the fifth wheel and kingpin on the tractor units; parts run through the DAF dealer network.
