DAF – further truck models: the collection page beyond the named ranges, from the A range and the 95 series to the XF generation, 71 to 390 kW, 2,500 to 12,600 cm³ displacement
This page brings together DAF trucks that are not assigned to any named range, from the A range of the 1970s through the 95 chassis generation to the later XF. DAF was founded in Eindhoven in 1928 as a trailer and chassis builder, entered truck production in 1949, and has belonged to the American PACCAR group since 1996. In the type designations, the letters before the number denote the body variant – F for a cab-over-engine range, T for a tractor unit, A for a rigid chassis – the number before the dot the chassis series, and the digits afterwards the engine power in horsepower.

The register lists nine versions with 71 to 390 kW from four- and six-cylinder engines displacing 2,500 to 12,600 cm³. Kerb weights range from 1,980 to 22,650 kg, gross vehicle weights from 3,500 to 26,000 kg, lengths from 5,900 to 9,050 mm and widths from 2,080 to 2,550 mm.
Alongside Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania and MAN, DAF ranks among the established European truck makers and, with the 95 series, was a pioneer of aerodynamically shaped cabs in the 1990s. The models gathered here represent the transitional years between older ranges and new generations and are found today mainly in long-haul and construction site transport.
When buying used, it is worth checking the frame and rear axle mounting points, since cab-over-engine chassis are prone to cracking under sustained load, along with the fifth-wheel coupling on tractor units. The turbocharger and intercooler should be checked for oil leaks, and on the older cabs, corrosion of the door sills is a common issue. Parts for the engine and drivetrain are readily available through DAF dealers, while body panels for the older ranges are now mostly limited to salvage.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
