The Citroën Dyane, built from 1967, is a development of the 2CV with a more angular body and a larger tailgate, from which the open-top Méhari was also derived on the same mechanicals from 1968 as a leisure and utility vehicle. The designation Dyane 6 refers to the 602 cc flat-twin engine, while 'bestel' in Dutch means a utility or delivery vehicle and 'furgoneta mixta' in Spanish denotes an estate combining passenger and cargo use. The Méhari, built from weather-resistant plastic on a steel frame, became popular chiefly as an open beach and off-road vehicle for leisure use and light utility work.

The flat-twin engine is considered durable and simple to repair, though the carburettor and ignition settings are worth checking regardless.
