The Chevy Van, internally designated the G-series, was built from 1964 and is the classic North American full-size van with a ladder frame and rear-wheel drive; from 1996 it was replaced by the Chevrolet Express. The G10, G20 and G30 numbers in the type designation follow the usual US payload-class logic from light to heavy. The van was a popular base for motorhome and camper conversions, recognisable in the register by suffixes such as Starcraft or Globemaster, the names of well-known US conversion firms.
