New Holland TL-A series: the revised mid-range from the Jesi plant, four types from TLA 70 to TLA 100, 53 to 73.5 kW from a consistent 4,485cc four-cylinder, 3,550 to 3,945 kg kerb weight
The TL-A series is New Holland's revised generation of the mid-range TL tractors, built at the Jesi plant in Italy's Marche region, where tractors of this class had already been produced under Fiatagri and in competition with Same-Deutz. The A suffix marks an updated cab and electronics compared with the original TL line; the model numbers 70 to 100 rank the four tractors by horsepower class. As successor to the Ford 40 series and predecessor of the TD and T5 models, the TL-A fills the gap between compact and large tractors in the New Holland range.

The register lists 4 versions with 53 to 73.5 kW from a consistently 4,485cc four-cylinder engine, torque from 280 to 365 Nm at 2,500 rpm, kerb weights from 3,550 to 3,945 kg, a length of 4,362 mm and widths from 2,005 to 2,012 mm with heights from 2,454 to 2,499 mm.
In this class the TL-A competed with the Deutz-Fahr Agrotron, Case IH Farmall and Massey Ferguson 4300 for medium arable and livestock farms across Europe; its close kinship with the Case IH sister model on the same CNH platform still underpins a broad parts supply today.
When buying used, check operating hours and hydraulic condition, the four-cylinder's oil-tightness, clutch and gearbox wear, and cab electronics and air conditioning; wear parts and filters are readily available through the CNH network for New Holland and Case IH, while body and cab trim parts are becoming increasingly scarce.

What to check before buying
- Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
- Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
- Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
- Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
- Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
- Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
- Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
