Rated output within it ranges from 275 to 480 hp; the TJ-330 sits in the lower part of that range with 330 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the TJ-325 below it with 325 hp and the TJ-375 above it with 375 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 14,422 to 20,251 kg; here the TJ-330 sits at the bottom of that range with 14,649 kg. 84 Case New Holland models across 17 series are on record.

New Holland TJ series (2002–2007) – the articulated tractors from Fargo as twins of the Case IH STX: TJ275 to TJ480, the number as hp class, six-cylinders of 8.3 to 14.9 litres, 202 to 353 kW, 14 to 20 t

The TJ range was New Holland's first articulated tractor after the merger with Case into CNH: as a condition of the 1999 merger New Holland had to sell its big-tractor brand Versatile with the Winnipeg plant to Buhler, and from 2002 the blue articulated tractors came from the Case IH plant in Fargo, North Dakota, the old Steiger plant – the TJs are technically the twins of the Case IH STX. The type logic: TJ marks the range, the number the hp class – TJ275 about 275 hp, TJ375 375 hp, TJ480 480 hp; the engines are the CNH six-cylinder of 8.3 litres in the small, Cummins QSM11 of 10.8 litres in the medium and Cummins QSX15 of 14.9 litres in the big models, the register span of 8,267 to 14,945 cm³ shows the three steps. The transmissions are 16-speed powershifts, the chassis articulated with four equal wheels, optionally on duals or triples.

The register lists 9 versions with 202.3 to 353 kW from six-cylinders at 2,000 rpm rated speed, torque from 1,293 to 2,263 Nm, unladen weights from 14,422 to 20,251 kg, lengths from 7,010 to 7,558 mm, widths from 3,048 to 3,683 mm and heights from 3,480 to 3,810 mm.

The TJs are the tractors of the prairie: grain farms in Canada, the Dakotas and Australia with 15 metre seeders; in 2007 the T9000 range followed in the same logic, later the T9.

On used tractors, operating hours, the condition of engine and powershift, articulation joint and steering cylinders, axles and tyres (the most expensive item), hydraulic output and parts supply through CNH and Cummins are what count.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
