The Quadtrac range is Case IH's four-track large tractor: an articulated machine in which four independently suspended rubber-track units replace the wheels of the classic Steiger design, for better traction and lower ground pressure at very high drawbar power. Case introduced the Quadtrac in 1996, built at the Steiger plant in Fargo, North Dakota; after the merger into Case IH the range continued under the CNH umbrella. The number in the designation – 385, 470, 540, 580, 620 and so on – traditionally states the engine output in hp, the CVX suffix marks the stepless variant. They are powered by large Cummins diesel engines.

The Quadtrac is the tractor of large-scale arable farms in North America, eastern Europe, Russia and Australia, where in direct draft of heavy tillage and seeding equipment it competes with wheeled tractors of comparable output; its main argument is even power transfer at lower ground pressure.
On used machines, the condition of the rubber tracks and mid-rollers, the tension of the track units, engine and transmission hours, hydraulics and electronics, and the cab all matter; spare parts and track sets run through CNH and independent agricultural workshops.
