Case excavators: from the 9000 series to the CX line in one bucket
The "Case Hydraulic Excavator" bucket combines 56 crawler excavators from two technically separate generations: the older 9000 series (examples 9010B through 9060B) and the modern CX line (such as CX130, CX135). Case fielded the B-model 9000-series machines from the late 1990s onward, then progressively replaced them with the CX line, which brought reworked hydraulics and cleaner engines.

The CX range has kept growing since: in 2017 Case introduced the CX750D, which it describes as the largest and most powerful machine in its excavator line. The smaller CX models in this bucket, such as the CX130 and CX135, sit in the mid-market segment, while the 9000-series predecessors are now purely used machines with no factory backing.
Technically the register spans a wide range: 65 to 396 kW of engine power, 12,272 to 81,000 kg operating weight, 4- to 6-cylinder engines, displacement from 2998 to 15,700 cm³, and torque from 349 to 2250 Nm — from a compact site excavator to a heavy mass-excavation machine.
Buying used, the condition of the track rollers and chains says a lot about how a machine was worked: rocky ground and trenching wear them down far faster than plain earthmoving. On the older 9000-series models, also check parts availability for the hydraulic pump and control valve block, since that line is no longer in production.
