Carraro – other models: Italian specialist tractors for fruit and wine growing, the AgriUp and Agriplus ranges plus narrow-track Frutteto models, 17 to 78 kW, Deutz diesel engines

Carraro is an Italian manufacturer from Campodarsego near Padua, known chiefly for axles and drivetrain technology, which also builds narrow, agile tractors under its own name for fruit, wine and specialty crops. The F suffix stands for Frutteto (orchard) and marks particularly narrow, low-built versions for the row spacing found in plantations; AgriUp and Agriplus are newer ranges for general-purpose work in narrow crops. The engines are predominantly from the German maker Deutz, a partner Carraro has worked with for decades.

The register lists here 14 versions with 17 to 78 kW (18.5 to 105 hp), all with diesel engines; the span runs from a small carrier for narrow row spacing to a stronger general-purpose model for specialty-crop holdings.

In the narrow rows of orchards, vineyards and olive groves, a narrow track and low build are decisive for manoeuvring between rows without damaging the plants; Carraro competes there with the specialist ranges of Same, Landini and Antonio Carraro, a separate company from the same founding family, as well as the narrow-track models of New Holland and Fendt.

On these specialist tractors, what counts is the condition of the axles and reduction gearboxes, the tightness of the hydraulics for implements, the condition of the Deutz engine, and rust on the narrow bodywork, which is put under particular strain in orchard use; parts for the Deutz engines are widely available, while Carraro-specific fittings tend to come through Italian specialist dealers.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.

  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
