Bührer of Hinwil in the Zurich Oberland was Switzerland's largest tractor maker: Fritz Bührer built tractors from 1929 for the country's small, sloping farms, and the Rapid and Komfort models of the 1960s and 1970s were the company's last generation before the price pressure of the import brands ended production in 1978. The type logic: the number orders size and power in ascending order – 455 and 465 the mid-range around 55 to 65 hp, 475 and 685 the larger models, 6105 and 6135 the six-cylinders with about 105 and 135 hp – Komfort marks the equipment with driver comfort and cab, A four-wheel drive, L a version variant. The engines were bought-in four- and six-cylinder diesels of 3.3 to 5.7 litres at 2,000 to 2,200 rpm; Bührer's speciality was the many-speed gearbox and the Bührer dual clutch that made the tractors fast runners up to 40 km/h fit for Swiss roads.
