Valmet/Valtra 8750 – Finnish High-Power Tractors of the 1990s

The first Valmet tractors were built in Finland in 1951 through cooperation between an artillery plant and a rifle plant; in 1994 Partek acquired the manufacturer, and the tractors were thereafter named Valtra Valmet, shortened to Valtra from 2001. The 8750 belonged to the 8050 series, introduced at the end of 1995, and thanks to its Sigma Power system, which released extra engine power under high PTO demand, normally produced the same 160 hp as the 8550, briefly rising to as much as 190 hp. The transmission remained the existing 36-forward, 36-reverse gearbox, with a live PTO as standard. Standard equipment also included a vertical exhaust pipe, air conditioning, and the sturdier Autocontrol D front axle with an engageable friction lock. Listed in the register: Valmet/Valtra 8750.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
