When buying used, check the frame and loading ramps (deformation, cracked welds), axles, brakes and, on steered axles, the steering hydraulics, plus lashing points, lighting and tyre condition on the often heavily loaded inner axles; corrosion at the ramp hinges is a common weak point. Axle-assembly spares are sourced through specialised commercial-vehicle workshops.
