Autocar was founded in 1897 and is considered the oldest still-producing US truck manufacturer; after spells in Pennsylvania and Michigan, the company now builds its heavy chassis in Indiana. The brand specialises in vocational trucks for refuse collection, construction and municipal work; the Xpeditor and Xspotter are cab-over chassis for waste collection and yard spotting, the Xpert adds a conventional-cab model, and the older DC and U-7144T/U8144T series predate the current model generation. The E- prefix on the ACTT and ACX denotes fully electric chassis of the newer generation.
