Since the 1960s Antonio Carraro has built narrow, articulated specialist tractors at Campodarsego near Padua for work in orchards, vineyards and special crops, where narrow row spacing and steep slopes call for a vehicle with a tight turning circle and a low centre of gravity. The Supertigre line spans several model generations, from the early 625 and 635 to the later Supertigre 4300, 5400, 5800, 650, 835 and 850; the numbers in the type designations do not follow one consistent system across the model years. What the models share is articulated steering, which, unlike conventional front-axle steering, drives both axles and gives the tractor high manoeuvrability in row crops and on narrow terraces.
