The Antonio Carraro Supertigre 835 is a tractor made by Antonio Carraro.

Antonio Carraro Supertigre – articulated specialist tractors from Campodarsego near Padua for orchards, vineyards and special crops: two-cylinder diesel engines of 18.5 to 30 hp, 950 to 990 kg

Since the 1960s Antonio Carraro has built narrow, articulated specialist tractors at Campodarsego near Padua for work in orchards, vineyards and special crops, where narrow row spacing and steep slopes call for a vehicle with a tight turning circle and a low centre of gravity. The Supertigre line spans several model generations, from the early 625 and 635 to the later Supertigre 4300, 5400, 5800, 650, 835 and 850; the numbers in the type designations do not follow one consistent system across the model years. What the models share is articulated steering, which, unlike conventional front-axle steering, drives both axles and gives the tractor high manoeuvrability in row crops and on narrow terraces.

The register lists here 2 versions with 18.5 to 30 hp from water-cooled two-cylinder diesel engines of 1,346 cm³ at 3,000 rpm, weights of around 950 to 990 kg, a length of 2,470 mm, a width of 1,100 mm and a height to the top of the steering wheel of 1,120 mm.

With this compact format and articulated steering, Antonio Carraro occupies a niche barely served by the large tractor groups; its competitors are mainly other Italian specialists in special-crop machinery such as Goldoni and BCS. Sales concentrate on the intensive growing areas of northern Italy and on wine and fruit-growing regions across Europe.

Buying one used, the articulation joint itself deserves particular attention: play in the joint bearings and the condition of the steering cylinders determine safety on slopes. On top of that come the usual checks for compact diesel tractors – clutch, hydraulic seals, PTO and rust on the narrow cab or roll bar. Spare parts run through the Italian farm-machinery trade and the manufacturer itself, which has kept the Supertigre line supported for decades.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
