Agria Hispania – the Spanish Agria from Amurrio: two-wheel tractors 930 to 955, small tractors 6900 to 9945, Tractocarro, Lombardini and VM engines, 12 to 75 kW

Agria Hispania was the Spanish sister company of the Agria works of Möckmühl in Württemberg: from 1958 the firm in Amurrio in the Basque province of Álava built two-wheel tractors under German licence but developed from them its own programme of small tractors for the vineyards of Rioja, the orchards of Valencia and the greenhouses of Almería. The register shows both lines: the two-wheel tractors 930, 935 S, 940 N and 955 with one- and two-cylinder engines, plus the Tractocarro – a two-wheel tractor with a trailed load platform as a transporter for slopes – and the four-wheeled small tractors 6900 D to 9945, whose number rises with size and output; suffixes such as D, DE, DR, E, S, N and Z mark engine and equipment variants, D standing for diesel. The engines came from Lombardini and Ruggerini for the small, from VM and Deutz for the big types, as the register rows show.

The register lists 25 versions with 12 to 75 kW (16 to 100 hp) from one- to four-cylinders – Lombardini LDA 672, 820 and 100, VM D754 and D910, Deutz BF4L – all diesel.

Agria Hispania stood for the motorisation of Spanish smallholder farming: the two-wheel tractor with rotavator, mower and trailer was for many farms in the 1960s and 1970s the first machine of all; the small tractors followed as the farms grew.

Used Agria Hispania machines are still numerous in Spain; when buying, engine condition, gearbox and clutch, the rotavator on two-wheel tractors and the front axle on tractors count; parts come through Lombardini, VM and Deutz dealers and Spanish remanufacturers.
