The AGCO Allis 7630 belongs to the 7600er series. Production: 1991–1992. The engine delivers 124 hp (91.2 kW), has 6 cylinders, with a displacement of 6,235 cm³. Torque is 420 Nm. Rated speed is 2,260 rpm. The machine is 4,491 mm long, 2,205 mm wide and 3,007 mm high. The unladen weight is 5,170 kg. The wheelbase measures 2,794 mm. Ground clearance is 549 mm. Top speed is 30 km/h. The tank holds 210 litres. Transmission: 24 V/12 R. The engine is air-cooled. Tyres: front 14.9 R 30 AS, rear 18.4 R 38 AS. The fuel is diesel. The bore measures 105 mm. The stroke is 120 mm. The compression ratio is 17:1. Maximum torque is reached at 1,400 rpm. Construction: unit construction (no separate frame). The gearbox offers 24 forward gears. There are also 12 reverse gears. Injection pressure is 215 bar. The linkage is category II/III. The PTO runs at 540/1000 rpm. The 7600 er - Baureihe series covers 3 models. Rated output within it ranges from 97 to 149 hp; the 7630 sits in the middle of that range with 124 hp. Its immediate neighbours are the 7600 below it with 97 hp and the 7650 above it with 149 hp. Unladen weight within it ranges from 3,900 to 5,700 kg; here the 7630 sits in the upper part of that range with 5,170 kg. 58 AGCO Allis models across 14 series are on record.

AGCO Allis 7600 series, types 7600 to 7650 – five- and six-cylinder diesels from Duluth: 71.3 to 109.6 kW, 3,900 to 5,700 kg, up to 6,235 cm³ displacement

The 7600 series of AGCO Allis represented the upper mid class of the maker, formed in 1990 when the newly founded US group AGCO, headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, took over the agricultural machinery division of Allis-Chalmers. The types 7600, 7630 and 7650 span five- to six-cylinder engines; the last two digits order the models by power step. Like the smaller 6600 series, the 7600 series initially inherited the production structure of Allis-Chalmers, before AGCO switched the model range to its own series.

The register lists 3 versions with 71.3 to 109.6 kW (90 to 128 hp) from five- to six-cylinder diesel engines of 5,193 to 6,235 cm³ displacement, torque of 328 to 487 Nm at 2,180 to 2,260 rpm. Unladen weights range from 3,900 to 5,700 kg, lengths from 4,272 to 4,704 mm, widths from 2,134 to 2,205 mm and heights from 2,794 to 3,007 mm.

In this power class the 7600 series competed with the large models from Case IH, Ford and Deutz-Fahr for farms with larger arable operations; the AGCO Allis brand was already dropped in favour of the AGCO brand itself by the mid-1990s, which makes these types rare today. The enclosed cab with power steering and the generous hydraulic output for the class made it easier to run heavier mounted implements such as cultivators and power harrows.

When buying used, what counts is the condition and mileage of the five- or six-cylinder diesel, clutch and gearbox, the tightness of the hydraulics and PTO, and corrosion on load-bearing panels; parts run through the AGCO dealer network.

What to check before buying

  • Check the hour meter against the service records — a replaced instrument is the most common gap.
  • Compare the data plate and chassis number with the papers.
  • Check the weights in the papers against the figures here — attachments change them.
  • Check front and rear tyre sizes: mismatched pairs strain the drivetrain.
  • Shift the gearbox cold and warm — jumps only show up at temperature.
  • Load the hydraulics and watch for sag.
  • Ask about parts availability for this build year — the running costs hang on it.
