When buying a used caravan, check for damp in the roof, windows and body panels, the condition of the chassis, axle and brake system, the function of the gas system and wiring, and the seals on the door and windows. Spare parts for the chassis and axle come from the usual caravan suppliers, while body parts are sourced through Knaus Tabbert and the caravan trade. It is also worth checking the tyres and rims for age, tread depth and load rating, the spare wheel or repair kit and on-board tools, and that the chassis number, type plate and vehicle documents all match.
