Glider trailers are narrow, usually single-axle special trailers fitted precisely to the fuselage, wings and tail of a specific aircraft type, and are sold through gliding clubs, airfield dealers and the air-sports accessory trade. The market for such trailers is small and strongly tied to the particular glider type, so a suitable used trailer is often sought for a considerable time.

On used trailers, the fit of the interior lining to the specific glider type, the condition of the roller bearings and cradles for fuselage and wings, sealing against moisture, the function of the overrun brake, rust on the frame and the condition of the straps securing the aircraft all count; spare parts are highly model-specific and usually run through specialised gliding-accessory dealers.
