At a gross weight of 3,650 kg, an unladen weight of 1,942 kg and a payload of 1,708 kg, a length of 6.41 m and a width of 2.20 m, the SR3500 sits with its gross weight just above the 3,500 kg limit of the light trailer class and so already in the next weight tier.

At a gross weight of 3,650 kg the trailer falls into EU class O3, which runs from 3,500 kg to 10,000 kg and generally requires an air or at least a hydraulic brake system instead of a simple overrun brake. This threshold also means a different driving-licence category for the owner than the O2 trailers permitted up to 3,500 kg.

Buying a used trailer in this transitional class means first establishing which brake system is actually fitted, since the switch from overrun to air brakes at this weight threshold is not applied uniformly. On a vehicle registered in 2020 it is also worth checking the registration documents for the recorded brake type and the axle load last measured at the roadworthiness test. The coupling head and drawbar should also be checked for a load rating that matches the higher gross weight of class O3, since parts carried over from a lighter O2 design are not automatically strong enough.
