Unlike ordinary load trailers, the unladen weight here is close to the gross weight, typical of trailers carrying an aerial platform or mast of their own with almost no extra payload. Such towable platforms are used in construction, maintenance work and event technology, where a fixed platform mounted on a truck is not needed.

On a used towable platform, the condition and tightness of the hydraulics, the function of the mast or scissor mechanism, the state of the outriggers, the chassis axle and brakes, and a valid inspection sticker for the platform itself all count in particular. Parts for a brand no longer active run through independent aerial-platform workshops and the used market.
