As an attachment with no drive of its own, the WG draws its power from the hydraulics of the carrier in use. For milling attachments such as the WG, milling width, oil flow and torque are the key figures determining the size chosen, matched to the operating weight of the excavator, skid-steer loader or wheel loader.

A wall miller removes material from walls, trenches or rock faces with a rotating milling drum rather than breaking it off like a chisel, working in a more controlled way and with less shock to the surrounding structure. Millers of this kind are used, for example, to cut trenches for pipework, to remove concrete surfaces or in rock and quarry work.

Buying a used milling attachment such as the WG means checking the milling tools for wear and whether they can still be replaced, the tightness of the hydraulic motor and the play in the milling drum bearings. Since the WG can be fitted to different carriers, it is also worth checking carefully whether the oil flow and connection of one's own excavator, skid-steer loader or wheel loader match the attachment properly.
